  • What on earth is an ADHD Coach?

What makes Susan an ADHD Coach? How do you know if she is the right coach for you? Susan's ADHD Coach training & education I have an undergraduate degree in Psychology (BA Honours, 2022, University of Calgary) and have since been involved in researching  behavioural treatments for ADHD in adults. Since 2023 I have completed over 100 hours of in-class instruction with  ADD Coach Academy (ADDCA), a global leader in ADHD coach training. I passed the practical coaching evaluation and had accumulated almost 100 hours of direct ADHD coaching experience. In June 2025, my AACC certification from ADDCA was made official! Certifications from the Professional Association of ADHD Coaches (PAAC) and the International Coaching Federation (ICF) are underway and anticipated in the coming months.  Susan's life experience with ADHD This training has been instrumental in developing an effective coaching style, but my clients also benefit from the life experiences I gathered personally and professionally before pursuing formal ADHD education. During the first 20 years of my professional career, I worked in accounting and finance as a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA Alberta 2001) after earning a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Alberta (1998). My own ADHD diagnosis in 2000, followed by that of family and friends, provided valuable perspective for many of the challenges we have faced.  What do you want to know about ADHD Coaching and Susan's personal approach to EMBRACE not fitting in? • ADHD Coaching is NOT Therapy

Let's begin by clarifying that the services I provide are not therapy or counselling , but rather ADHD coaching for adults (18-65). I am NOT a Registered Psychologist or therapist and do NOT provide psychological counselling or assessment services. I am not a mental health professional. I AM a trained ADHD Coach.  I will soon complete the required hours for certification. My services are not currently covered by provincial or private health care plans but ADHD Coaching is evidence-based and gaining interest with health care organizations and insurance providers. ADHD coaching can be extremely effective in supporting clients with ADHD and related symptoms as part of a multi-modal treatment plan ( Kooij et al, 2019 ). Unfortunately, ADHD coaching is not currently a provincially regulated profession in Canada, which means that coach training is not legally required to advertise and provide coaching services. This is where my background becomes important.
